Hey guys, its been a bit since ive made one of these, recently got back into eddsworld, and in the spirt of it, made an animation using simmilar techniques to some of its older stuff, (the animation being "flick says whatever") i came to a realization, that... holy shit rigs are bullshit, im just going to do things the way i did with the MV, i literally made that over the course of friday night and yesterday, not to mention, rigs take so much fun out of animation when your animating in 2D, well atleast for me, either way, im happy to say animation for the first episode is about half done (many corruptions have happened for scene 5 i gave up on it.) but anyway, I'm just going to start doing things without the rigs in episode 2, and this has kinda been a thing for a while, but this sorta just adds to a PILE of reasons

Reasons:

Rigs actually have made things slower for me

Their hard to explain to people who arnt familiar with rigging (and can be generally intimidating)

the rigs use adobe animate, so people without it cant help with animation

they have been SO BORING to work with, and suck all the fun out of animating, and made me think i hated animating for a while.

RIGS ARE OVERLY COMPLEX, and also alot of people dont LIKE working with rigs

Soooo yea,, basically, its boring, so im switching to NO RIGS! well, atleast for episode 2 and beyond, but yea,

we still need someone to animate scenes 5 and 7 so if anyone is up for that DM ME AND WE SHALL DISCUSS!!!!

And with that, that marks the end of my update for this, hope yall have a good day!

Wait so two things (just cause I'm a curious guy lol)

1: Does this mean with switching to No-Rigging, people without Adobe Animate could help with the series?

2: Why no simplify the rigs?

for number one, yes exactly! I'd like to have anyone who wants to animate be able to! (i cant animate long episodes by myself lol)

for number 2: i feel like i could have clarified this more, but just becuase im not using rigs doesnt mean im not going to use certain things that i would if i did use rigs, for instance, if your an adobe user, id give you a fla with specific things like mouth shapes and whatnot to make lip sync easier, also i will still be using symbols and stuff (the product may look simmilar to something like eddsworld, as thats my main animation style inspiration)

but to properly answer this question, Basically, like i said, they just have provided a LOT of difficulty with the limitations of adobe rigging, as well as being just something alot of people dont like, and i really dont know how id simplify the rigs, as i am by no means a professional

I hope this helps answer your questions! (also sorry if theres poor grammer im too lazy to edit it lol) have a good day!!

Dude I agree so much, making 2d rigs is mind-numbingly boring- and usually looks bad, unless you have a really complex well made one.

Traditional frame-by-framing always turns out quicker, better results for me. I'm sure if I really sat down and learn how to make good rigs that would be a different story, but it's a rabbit hole I just have zero interest in going down.

LITERALLY, the only way i could make them semi good was making each limb only ONE PART, and having to key different arm and hand shapes, 100% agree with you there, but im sure you know that becuse it was literally in my post lmao
